"Captured Memories"

I was so excited when the 2Crafty Chipboard team were invited to join CSI as guest detectives this month.

When I first received the case information, I have to admit, I was very daunted by the prospect of getting it all together! But once I sat down and read through the evidence and the testimony, I actually found it really easy. I started with my testimony. I chose to document something about my home ....... my daughters love of drawing spiders on our walls when she was very young. I had happened to take a photo of one, and while sorting through some old photos, I came across it again!

The testimony was followed closely by the evidence. I loved that there was heaps to choose from. I decided to go with book pages, map print, twine and then added some wood grain right at the end.

2Crafty Chipboard pieces used were:

"Square Collage Panel"

"Alpha Set 1"

"Captured Memories title"

The "Alpha set 1" pieces are randomly glued to the background and then covered over with the book pages using PVA glue mixed with water. I also added some of the map pages. I chose the part of the map that said Mount Gambier because that's where our home is. To make them letter more defined under the paper, I added some water colours over the top and then some white gesso to highlight them a little more.

The "Captured Memories" title is painted with 13@rts matt paint and then sprayed with 13@rts chalk ink at one end to give an ombre affect. I also traced around the outside a little with thin black marker.

I incorporated the "Square Collage Panel" on either side and towards the bottom of the design to give it some balance. I love these "Square Collage Panels". They are so modern and edgy!

So my obsession with using random alphas continues!!! I'm not over it yet LOL in fact, I've got worse. On this layout I've not just used the chippy ones but also rubons and stickers! I know ........ I'll need help soon!!!

Hello lovelies ....It's February and it's the 16th so that can only mean one thing ......Scrap Around The World design team mid month reveal!

The mood board was created by one of my scrappy hero's Tatiana Sidorenko. She has managed to capture what I think is a real magical earthy feeling.

This month I was heavily inspired not only by the beautiful mood board but also my very talented scrappy friend Lisa Griffith. You need to check out her blog "Paper Attic", seriously there is not a single layout I don't sigh loudly about when I scroll through her blog!

She creates all sorts of magic. Here is just one example!

Her ability to create a whimsical, magical and earthy look to her work fascinates me and I thought of her as soon as I saw this mood board and so I scrolled and sighed and then created.

I don't use a large amount of flowers in my scrapping but lately I've tended to ........ and I like it LOL!

Thank you Lisa for inspiring me back to the flowers :)

I learnt from Lisa's creations that flowers should be stacked as close as possible to one another. Her clusters are always perfect! I chose a beautiful black feature flower from Prima and then stacked littler ones around it and under it. I also added some Prima leaves for it to sit on.

I also love the way Lisa has lots of paint drips coming from her flower clusters so this inspired me to use my 13@rts Chalk Mists.

I added some little heart epoxy stickers and made some twirly tails from the stems of the flowers to emphasise the drips. I also added some splatters with the mists as well.

I also stamped around the outside of my circle shape with a lovely twiggy stamp that also has little birds on it and added some beads and glitter using gel medium to make them stick.

I repeated the steps in a smaller cluster at the bottom of my page to balance the whole thing out and because I wanted to add a butterfly but couldn't seem to make it work on the top cluster.

My background paper is from 7Dots it's "Freezing Tears" from the Cold Country collection.
