"She Was a Dreamer" Art Journal Page for VLVS

Hello today I'm here with you to share a little art journal spread I created using the fabuloso rubber from Viva Las Vegastamps!!

So I have this little journal, well actually I think technically it's a sketch book but I never sketch in it, and it's got some of the most awesome paper in it that I have ever seen.

It is deliciously soft and absorbent with a very fine roughness to it. Not what you would normally think is the best quality paper for an art journal (cause it's probably not) but what I love about it is the fact that it's not perfect.

I can make the most organic backgrounds in it using some very basic techniques. this one is simply gesso spots and then a tiny amount of pigment powder over the top once it dried and sprayed with water to activate it!

Then I've dressed it up with some of my favourite stamps!

Here is a list of VLVstamps I've used:

Family is Best a Layout for 13arts

Hello! Today I share with you a layout I created for 13@rts.

I created the layout to remind them that "Family is the Best" even in those times when they may not always get along or agree with one another. It is still very important to know family is always there.

I combined purple with turquoise and added a hint of gold throughout the design.

I really enjoyed including the stickers from the sticker sheets.

And trimmed some of the hexagon shapes from the "Out of the Blue" papers.

Classes With Louise Nelson

A little while ago (back in July) the lovely Louise Nelson visited my home town. She had actually decided to visit so she could come to one of my painting classes but I wasn't going to let this opportunity go to waste so I gathered all the local crafty peeps that I could find and organised a location and talked Lou into doing some classes while she was here!

"Cheers"

The first class she taught us was a mono printing background class that incorporated the love of wire onto our layouts!! Oh My GOD!! This was SOO MUCH FUN! I think I mono printed like a zillion pages!! This was the one I decided to go with for my layout in the end.

Louise does her monochromatic but I just had to add a tiny little sprig of colour. I decided on Lime!

The kit was very generous filled with Imaginarium chippy, some gorgeous little shiny flowers, blingy spotty bits (I'm sure they have an official name LOL) and of course lots of wire!

I also borrowed Sandi's label gun to add my title!

Look at that gorgeous texture!!! LOOOOOVE!!

Up next was a class called "Pastel Peeps"

I have to admit I was very nervous in this class. I really can't draw ..... I can paint, I know color, I can work out balance and design but I CAN NOT DRAW to save myself.

But LOOK!! My little dude rocks!! Louise was such a good teacher .... it was really easy in the end. She gave us heaps of encouragement and lots of tips and tricks and plenty of time to practice!!

Everyone's looked amazing. I decided to do a little fellow for mine so I could scrap my boy. I am so happy with how it turned out. Definitely something I'll try again.

Everyone made two layouts (except for me of course because I was so busy procrastinating!!) And another generous kit full of Imaginarium chippy and everyone was given a packet of pastel chalks!!

All in all it was a fabulous weekend. Lou and I laughed so hard we cried and I got to hang out with all my crafty local peeps for a day! Couldn't ask for a better weekend!!

If you ever get a chance to attend one of Louise's classes I would HIGHLY recommend it. The lady is an artistic genius!!

A Video For 7 Dots Studio

Hello! Here again today to share with you my video tutorial for 7 Dots Studio.

I created a layout of my boy using the "Fortune-teller" collection and my watercolor paints. If you've fallen in love with the collections the same as I have then you can purchase them HERE

I love the combination of the turquoise and brown in these papers and decided it would be perfect for this photo.

I also added some of the 7 Dots Studio chipboard. I love this little arrow. I made it brown by using some distress ink but you can see that in the video.

The link to the video is HERE on my YouTube channel. Enjoy xxx

See you next time.

Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo August Challenge - Meadowflowers

Hello!! Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo has a new challenge this month and the theme is "Meadow Flowers. here is my take on the challenge.

A created an art journal page using my watercolors.

This is a really easy "drip" technique for creating a field of wild flowers.

When the paint is completely dry I draw around the outside of each flower highlighting it's shape. I also added a layer of modeling past over this design using one of the UmWOW Studio stencils from the "Homegrown" collection for 7 Dots Studio.

You can join us on Face Book Scrapki-wyzwaniowo and you can see all of the other awesome designs from my fellow designers on the blog HERE.

I hope you can join us xx

Kraft Plus August Challenge GD

Hello lovely peeps!! Today I am sharing with you my Guest Design piece representing Scrappy Chat Designs for this months challenge over at Kraft Plus. The theme is "Tassel Time"

I made a bohemian styled banner to hang on the handles of my antique dresser I have in my entry way. Here is the inspirational panel that guided my arty ideas!!

And here are some close ups.

I made the tassels from some jute twine, fluffy knitting nylon and colored mini cotton yarn from Spotlight.

I added some Kraft tags between the tassels. Each one decorated in it's own way using Tinby Designs Metallic Melts on the chipboard pieces and some of the new Tinby Designs Color Crush powders to color the background.

Each tassel is held together with some thin gold wire which I've also used to attach them to the banner string.

This is a super cool challenge and I hope you get involved as the prizes are awesome!!!

Head on over to see all of the other amazing creations too.

You can see them all HERE

Thanks for popping in xx
