Open Your Mind Be An Artist Art Journal Page

Hello! Today I am sharing a little art journal page I have created using the gorgeous Kaitlyn Paltridge Designed stamps

My challenge for this page was to create a mirror image of the stamp that could be used in any direction. I have used deli paper to reverse the image onto the page. I emulated the soft white semi opaque effect that the deli paper created on the opposite side with a light wash of gesso inside the stamped image.

This page is all about trying new things, opening your mind and not fearing failure.

I am so happy with the result and now I am confident that I can  reverse all of the stamps designed by Kaity which will make them so versatile!

By simply angling the stamp in a slightly forward direction and adding a scribbly neck using my journal pen in the same style that Kaity used to create the stamp in the first place, I've managed to give this girl a whole new look.

Give this a go .... you are going to LOVE it!

Abstract Ephemera Art Journal Page for 13Arts

Hello all. Today I am sharing an art journal page I have created for 13@rts incorporating my new "Conversations on Trains" paper collection.

Art journalling for me is all about experimenting and exploring my style. Combining it with the Conversations on Trains collections gives me inspiration to try new ways of mixing ephemera based papers with abstract art ideas.

Proud Mumma Art journal Page

Hello! A proud mummy moment for me as over the next three months I promote and adore my extremely talented little girls (ok not so little any more) first stamp release

Her stamp designs are all hand drawn .... she has so much talent. I love their whimsical romantic feel and I have found using them an absolute pleasure.

In this journal page I have incorporated them with a little touch of ephemera and highlighted the stamps with water colours.

I am so in love with them .... I can see so many uses for them in my little journal, on cards and in mini albums. I also want to create a textile piece ... omg the options are endless!!

I hope you love them as much as I do and support a young artists!

When You Find Your Thing

Hello. Today I'm here with you today sharing a wall hanging I have created using my new collection "Conversations on Trains" with 13Arts.

This idea came to me when I saw my designs come to life. They arrived on my door step and when I opened them up I had the inspiration to showcase all my favourite elements on a wall hanging design.

I sewed bits of left over fabric together making lots of different sized squares and rectangles to use as my substrates (platform/base) for each favourite element.

Then I went ahead and added my collection bit by bit onto each piece until I had filled every fabric scrap.

I added some colour to some of them where needed using the 13Arts watercolour paints. They are such good quality that they adhere to the fabric perfectly.

I also smeared some gesso around some of the pieces to help them blend and balance into each other.

I added lots of collected bits and pieces too like old spoons, nuts and washers, beads, lace and old doilies. All these elements fitted perfectly with the old world charm of the papers.

I featured some hand stitching also on some of the patches and some machine stitching in red to highlight certain areas. I love how contrasting the red stitching looks.

I am so happy with how this piece turned out. Now all I have to do is work out how to hang it as a whole piece on the wall.

I don't want to detract from the features by adding any further elements so I think I might just press them gently between two pieces of perspex to make a see through frame.

I'll let you know how it goes.

On one of the pieces I have added a special message to myself and the viewer. "When you find your thing and it just works for you your world explodes in a good way"
This is a reminder to me to stick to my thing .... I love making fabric art combined with paper, it works for me and so I do believe I've found my "thing".

13Arts October Challenge "Petticoats and Pleats"

Hello! Today I am sharing with you a layout I have created foir the October 13Arts challenge "Petticoats and Pleats" using some of my favourite 13Arts products from our new collections.

Here is the challenge mood board.

I choose to create a project of me in one of my favourite dresses! Yes a dress! A rare thing for me but I'm starting to collect a few now.

I used some of my "Conversations on Trains" A4 paper collection and stamps from the 13Arts ranges.

I am so happy with the colours and the way this layout turned out. All of the stamping for the background worked a treat!

I accompanied the layout with some gorgeous chipboard and titled it using the A5 sticker collections.

My love of all things ephemera have also made an appearance on this layout. I used old doily's and some sewing pattern paper to create the additional features to the layout.

I also added a few little buttons to go with the theme and some gorgeous metal adornments from the 13Arts collection.
