VLVS "A Little Bit of Dr Who" Of Course!

Hello! Today I want to share with you my "Wibbly Wobbly T.A.R.D.I.S cards. Of course I HAD to make something using the Blue Police Box stamp!

I know I have lots of new and exciting stamps from VLVS to play with but I really couldn't wait to create something "Whovian".

The stamp is a fabulous size at 2 3/4" x 4' so really perfect for shrinking! That's exactly what I did. I stamped it a couple of time onto some white shrink plastic (2 of them because I knew I'd wreck one ...... and I did!) and then coloured them with some Distress Ink. The new Blueprint Sketch colour is the Perfect T.A.R.D.I.S colour.

Then I taped off some white card stock and added some more Distress Inks to begin the background!

Then the process of creating a scene from out of space began! First a flick of water, next some white flicks, then some dark blue flicks, after that I added some black ink splats and finally some white ink splatter with a fan brush so I would get really fine spots to represent galaxy's far far away! Once it was all dry I attacked it with my black and white pens.

A close up shows you how the layers create an out of this world background!

Now I did say "Cards" plural more than one so here is the second T.A.R.D.I.S card. I made this one for a friends daughter who is a one eyed Whovian (YAY!).

I just used a simple fluid masking technique for this one and then wrote a little Dr. Who quote around the outside and then added an arrow to indicate the quote going around and around and around .......

My Second 2 Crafty Chipboard Share fro January "Perfection"

Hello! My second share for 2 Crafty Chipboard this month is a simplistic piece of my beautiful daughter Kaity.

I have to say that one of my favourite flower set EVER is this gorgeous "Wildflower Set". It is so versatile and not too flowery but rather more shrubby looking. I choose a couple of pieces that suited the layout and left them raw then simply stamped over them with a text stamp. 

I may be biased but I believe my daughter is the most beautiful girl around! She is "Perfection" in my eyes, now to just work on her attitude! LOL No seriously, she's a dream of a daughter and I love spending time with her when we can, which is not very often anymore seeing she lives over 500kms away. I cherish her "Selfies" more than ever now. I simply white heat embossed the word "Perfection" and added it as my title.

I wanted to add a little touch of femininity to the layout so I picked this little "Butterfly Frame" and added it to the corner of the photo. I didn't want it a heavy black as I felt that would distract from the other features on the layout, so I just dabbed a little bit of ink pad over it to give it a slight black coverage. Love the effect I got!

My First 2 Crafty Share for 2016 "Life Documented"

Hello everyone! I'm here with you today to share my 2 Crafty Chipboard inspiration for January.

As is with most scrapbookers, the journey is often about documenting life. I often forget to take photos of not just my loved ones but myself with my loved ones. This is my mum, my daughter and myself on Christmas day 2014 and now I can say that this part of my life is documented! Hence the title "Life Documented". I simply painted it black.

I love to use the "Mini Camera's" when I'm show casing a photo I like. They fit in no matter what the theme. This little one was given a coat of gesso and then a sprinkling of pigment powder and once it was dry, I did a little bit of drawing on it with a black marker.

The "Mini Hot Air Balloon" is adorable and adds to the idea of life being a grand adventure! I think I'd really like to take a balloon ride one day. Note to self ..... add to list of things to do! I've altered it exactly the same as I did the "Mini Camera" with a couple of flicks over the top.

The next item from 2 Crafty is this gorgeous little "Small Postage Stamp Frame". I did a similar process as I did with the "Hot Air Balloon" and the "Mini Camera", except this time I used different coloured pigment powders.

This was a really fun layout to create!

7 Dots Studio January Inspiration

Hello! I've popped in today to share with you my creation for 7 Dots Studio this month. I went with a monochromatic - ish creation as I'm really loving the greys in the Yultide collection.

I began my design by choosing the Yuletide 12x12 Chestnuts piece. I just love the colour and the way the wood grain is so distinct in this paper.

I decided that this creation was to be as monotone as I could make it. So I searched my 7 Dots collection to see what would match the background and I came across some of the Illumination collection.

All the little sticker words from the collection made a fabulous feature on my design. I chose ones that I felt were the things I taught my children as they were growing up. 

I then finished the theme off with a little die cut that said "Remember" because all you can do is hope they remember the lessons throughout their lives and continue to guide them gently.

I also added a couple more die cut elements such as "you" and "Journey" and a little heart to signify her life journey. She will be 21 soon and her latest journey as an independent adult has just begun. I am so very proud x

I simply LOOOOOVE these stamps and I can't wait to show you what I have created with them!

These are my application pieces with a little explanation of how they came about.

"Please Notice This"

First up is a little journal page I created. I love to "experiment" in my journal. This time around I was playing with some of the 7 Dots Studio papers incorporating their earthy colours into a small page spread.

These little guys fit just perfectly! I created the background using Gelatos and then highlighted it with my black Stabilo Aquarellable (my absolute favourite item in my studio).

"Journey"

So you'll hear me say time and time again that I am not a card maker! I get by but I have nothing on these girls here in this team. I'm hoping to learn so much from them about this truly amazing skill. However I have the attitude that while I have hands I can stamp! So I will continue to practice.

This little card is about my card making journey. I have used gloss white card and created the background by blending chalk inks. The Bell jar is stamped separately and fussy cut out along with the Whimsical Feather in the foreground. I used the bottom half of the Whimsical Horned Boy stamp to add the numbers.

"King of the Tree"

My last piece I want to share with you is this little wire tree ornament that I made to hang on my Christmas tree. I formed a wire frame and then gave it a book page base to mount my stamped image on to.

I only added a little bit of rust colour to grunge it up and some Um WOW chipboard pieces. I absolutely love creating with wire. I love the unpredictable element it gives to my work. You'll see a lot of this from me.

So that's me! Well that's my art .......As for me, I am 43 and a 3/4 years old, I'm a teacher of 4 year olds at a Kindergarten (yes I am insane) and I have two adult children of my own. A boy, Cameron who is almost 23 and a girl Kaity, who is about to turn 21. I live in Australia with my hubby (right down the bottom on the edge but not quite in Tasmania!) in a little town called Mount Gambier. We are famous for our Blue Lake, which is a dormant volcano (see I told you I live on the edge!) No seriously it's beautiful and very safe. Or so we're told!

I began creating at a young age. My Grandma was an artist. She mainly painted with oils and water colours and my mum was an interior designer and painter. My sister is an actress and my daughter is a 3D artist currently working with some amazing technology in the virtual reality art world, so as you can see the women of the family have all the artistic talent!

I create anything that my heart desires but my true passion is scrapbooking. You can find more of my work HERE. I am truly blown away to be here on this amazing team and I can't wait to get to know you all better.

Welcome to 2016 SW January Challenge

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

First up for 2016 I have a little altered piece for you for the Scrapki-wyzwaniowo January challenge "Altered Art". I decided to alter the cover of my little sketch book using the 7 Dots Studio "Lost and Found" collection.

 I am totally addicted to altering stuff at the moment. I have always loved digging around in old antique and junk shops looking for bits and pieces to use in my assemblage art and now I'm incorporating those elements into my scrapbooking.

On my altered book I also added some coins. In Australia back in the late 1980's the government abolished 1 and 2 cent coins and everything went to a denomination of 5's so we lost these adorable copper coloured coins that are such a large part of my childhood.

The Lost and Found collection has a cople of die cuts on the die cut sheet that say 23c so I used this as my theme for the cover and added 23c.

For 23c when I was young I could buy my lunch and recess from the tuck shop at school. A meat pie, a vanilla slice, a strawberry milk and a bag of apricot balls!! Now 23c won't even buy me 5 lollies!

I think I just realised how old I'm getting! I'm blogging about "when I was young"!!
